Married to Rose Mary (Murtagh) Achey for 36 years. Rose Mary is the owner and proprietor of Calm Creek Farm in Cashiers, NC. Both Herb and Rose Mary have been active in local Western Carolina charities as well as holding board level positions at Charlotte Latin School in Charlotte, NC.
Rose Mary and Herb have two children, Maggie and Patrick, and have been residents of Charlotte, NC and Cashiers, NC for the past 33 years. The Acheys have an 11-year-old Black Lab, named Charlotte, that is an important part of their lives.
Herb spends his free time hiking vacant rail trails, tossing tennis balls with their Black Lab, and streaming British Crime Dramas. Herb and Rose Mary are big fans of live theatre in NYC and at regional playhouses. While Rose Mary tends to her Apiary, caring for her bees and harvesting her legendary sourwood honey, Herb roots for the Eagles and the Panthers.
Herb and Rose Mary are avid NFL football fans and hope to visit all 30 NFL stadiums at some point in the future.
